Coaching is a results and goal orientated methodology. It focusses on the present – “How do I go from here to there?”  The client is assumed to be healthy, powerful and able to achieve goals with effective support, information and guidance. Coaching looks forward, deals in the present, seeks to educate, and does not diagnose.  Coaching uses tools and the most current research to help you gain the skills you need.

Therapy deals with the client’s past – “How did I get here?” Therapy assumes the client needs healing.  It typically addresses issues in a client’s background and seeks to work through those issues until the client has found some closure.  Therapy frequently uses diagnosis and can last anywhere from weeks to years.

Coaching and Therapy can complement each other very well.  It could be said that coaching starts when therapy ends, making coaching a good fit for personal growth.
